මියන්මාර මෘතවීරයන් සැමරීම 

අද ජූලි 19 වැනි දා මියන්මාරයේ මෘතවීරයන්ගේ (martyr) දිනයයි. සෑම වසරක ම ජූලි 19වැනි දා ඔවුන් ඒ දිනය සමරනවා. අද උදෑසන යැන්ගොන් ප්‍රධාන සොහොන් ගැබෙහි මෘතවීරයන් වෙනුවෙන් ගෞරව දැක්වීමක් සිදු වුණා. එයට මියන්මාර ජනාධිපති වින් මින්ට් මහතා ඇතුළු අමාත්‍යවරුන් ද රාජ්‍ය උපදේශිකා අවුන් සාං සුචී මැතිණිය ද සහභාගි වුණා. සුචී මැතිණියගේ පියා වූ ජෙනරල් අවුන් සාං ප්‍රධාන මෘතවිරයා.

ජෙනීවාහි එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ සංවිධානයෙහි ආගම් හෝ විශ්වාස හෝ නිදහස පිළිබඳ සාකච්චාවල විශේෂ සටහන්කරුවා (rapporteur) යැයි කිව හැකි අහමඩ් ෂහීඩ් නම් අයකු මෙරට ජනාධිපතිට දන්වා ඇත්තේ කොවිඩ් 19 නිසා මිය යන රෝගීන්ගේ දේහ ආදාහනය කිරීමට ගෙන ඇති තීරණය ලෝක සෞඛ්‍ය සංවිධානයේ චක්‍රලේඛවලට පටහැණි බවයි. ෂහීඩ්ට මේ සම්බන්ධ ඕනෑම දෙයක් කීමට ඇති නිදහස අප පිළිගන්නවා. ඔහුට තම අදහස් විවිධ ආකාරයෙන් ලෝකයට දැන්වීමටත් පුළුවන්. 

Independence is a process -II

After the so called second world war western Christian colonialism which is a product of western Christian modernity that commenced more than five hundred years ago, had to take a different path. The westerners who have become creators of knowledge used that knowledge following Bacon who said that knowledge is power. The so called second world war saw the emergence of Stalinism in Eastern Europe and it was clear that at least in that part of the world there was an attempt to go back to the Catholic Chinthanaya after the defeat of Fascism in western Europe, which was also based on Catholic Chinthanaya. Catholic Chinthanaya that had been defeated by Greek Judaic Christian Chinthanaya had attempted to establish its hegemony again either through Fascism or Marxist Socialism.

In Asia and Africa independence struggles were helped by the emergence of Soviet satellites in Eastern Europe and very soon countries in Asia had to be given a limited independence. However, by this time the western colonialists, especially the English had created a sect who could be called McCauley’s children and they were English in everything except in the colour of the skin. A middle class that depended on western economy, political structures and culture especially in Education had arisen and it was not difficult for the western colonialists to maintain their hegemony through the dependence of McCauley’s children on the west. The elite schools in Asia had been modeled on so called public schools in England and Wales and other such schools in the continental Europe and the young men and occasionally young women went to English and French universities for higher studies. There were of course some others who were trained as western lawyers especially in England and France and whether they were influenced by Liberalism or Marxism these educated youth were fodder for the colonial masters. The west depended on these educated youth to maintain their hegemony even after a limited political independence was given to their respective countries.

Western Christian colonialists needed other institutions to complement the educational system in Asia and Africa in order to maintain their hegemony. The united nations and its various subsidiaries were the most important in this connections. These organizations helped the westerners to balance the influence of Soviet Russia and its satellites in Eastern Europe. Then the so called commonwealth that had been confined to the white nations that were in essence colonies of the English was extended to countries in Asia in the forties and in Africa in the sixties. The world bank, IMF and other such institutions only increased the grip of the western Christian countries on the others and western Christian colonialism had continued to evolve despite a limited political independence given to Asia and Africa.

However, there were two other important developments that had taken place in western Christian colonialism after the so called second world war. I insist on referring to it as the so called second world war as it was not a war in which the whole world was involved. Countries in Asia and Africa other than Japan were dragged into the war by the colonial masters and we had no choice in this matter. It was a war essentially between western Christian modernity based in Greek Judaic Christian Chinthanaya and Fascism based in Catholic Chinthanaya with Soviet Russia and Japan becoming allies of the warring factions. After the war America became the leader of the western countries displacing England, and Soviet Russia became the leader essentially of the countries of the Greek Orthodox Church. America is not as tactful as England and even with the western educational system spread over all the countries they found it difficult to obtain the support of the Asian and African countries.

It was in this background that the Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) were established soon after the African countries got their limited political independence. These organization though called non governmental were and financed directly or indirectly by the western Christian colonial countries. Later international non governmental organizations (INGO) were established as extensions of the NGOs. The NGOs were nothing but instruments of western Christian colonialism and though some of them were involved ostensibly with welfare work in the villages in Asia and Africa they were essentially successors to the missionary workers of the early western Christian colonial phase. However, the west has learnt its lessons and it is not difficult find non Christians in Asia and Africa working for the NGOs. The NGOs essentially propagates the ideology of the western Christian modernity and they could be found in every corner of Asia western taking Christian modernity to the future generations in Asia and Africa.

All these institutions, the UNO and its subsidiaries, the Commonwealth, IMF, World Bank, the schools and the universities, the NGOs are only instruments of western Christian colonialism and through education which is the prerogative of the western intellectuals we in Asia and Africa have been brainwashed to consider them as institutions that do a great favour to us, when opposite is the cased. The middle class in Sri Lanka that consists mainly of McCauley’s children are now worried whether we would be able to hold the meeting of the commonwealth heads in Sri Lanka, and if we go b y the opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who acts as if he is the opposition leader in England (UK if one wishes that way) whether we would be expelled from the commonwealth. Has anybody done a study on who benefits from the commonwealth? The commonwealth offers a few scholarships and fellowships to Sri Lankans and it would be nice to see some of these scholars and fellows undertaking a study on the costs and benefits of being a member of the commonwealth. We should be able to tell the commonwealth to fly a kite and expel us from the commonwealth if they wish to. It is very unlikely that Sri Lanka would be expelled from the commonwealth for not following the Latimore House Principles as in that case England would have to expelled first. On the other hand even if Sri Lanka is expelled from the commonwealth we should not be disturbed as it is one of the instruments of western Christian colonialism. The McCauley’s children would be deeply upset by such a move but then Sri Lanka should not take these brainwashed people and their ideas seriously. The de brainwashing of the McCauley’s children is an essential step in our continuing independence struggle.

The President had referred to the charter of the United Nations in his address to the nation on the independence day and reminded the western envoys that neither united nations nor any member nation of the UN should interfere with the internal matters of any other member. What the President has forgotten is that the UN Charter is there only in theory as UNO is one of the most important instruments as far as western Christian colonialism is concerned. The semblance of impartiality this organization had vanished after the collapse of the Berlin wall and the UNO is only interested in maintaining the hegemony of the western Christian modernity. The so called freedom of speech, good governance, human rights etc., are only again instruments used by western Christian colonialism to tie down our hands thus depriving independence. As the west has a monopoly of knowledge their intellectuals come out with various concepts and theories essentially to rule the world the way they want. The concept of right to protect was one such bogus concepts.

The concern of the UN

It is reported that the United Nations at New York is concerned with the attempted impeachment of the CJ. Whom are the officials at UN trying to fool? Is it the dispersed Tamils in the western cities? Is it the TNA or somebody else or all of them? Are these officials trying to scare the Sinhala people? Or is it the Sri Lankan government? Or is it the President? It is now known to the west that they cannot defeat this government through elections. They tried Sarath Fonseka as the alternate candidate for Presidency but they have found that he has become a one man party within a course of mere two years.

The west first thought that they could make Sarath Fonseka a witness for the so called international community and try both Mr. Mahinda Rajapkase and Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapakse against war crimes at an “international” tribunal. They tried to create “facts” using the media such as Channel Four and ‘journalists” of the caliber of Marie Colvin. They have failed in their attempts to create “facts” on the last forty eight hours of the humanitarian operations but we should not think that they have given up their exercise. It is money spinning exercise for many “journalists” both local and foreign and it unlikely that they would want to give up their source of income.

It is not a secret that the west does not like the Rajapakse government which they call the Rajapakse Regime following their political scientists, and insist on good governance, transparency and democracy with so called human rights not because they practice those qualities but simply because they want to make a case against the present government in the eyes of the “international community” and the Sri Lankan public. However, unfortunately for them the Sri Lankan public in general cannot be misled by the western media and of course the NGO pundits in Sri Lanka. Only those gullible educated people who think of no end of their so called education could be fooled by the west.

As we have said the impeachment of the CJ is neither unconstitutional nor undemocratic and it should be left to the Parliamentary select committee and the Parliament to take a decision on this matter. A Parliamentary Select Committee has already been appointed and the members of the committee sit as judges in this particular instance. It is the western system that tells us that when a matter is subjudice it should be left in the hands of the judges. The west through the UN agents is trying to influence the members of the Parliamentary Select Committee by expressing its concern of the matter.

Meanwhile a petition has been filed in the Court of Appeal praying for an interim order to prevent the Parliamentary Select Committee proceeding with the review of the impeachment motion. We do not know what would be the outcome but it could lead to a tussle between the Judiciary and the Legislature. I suppose this is not exactly what the westerners want as they are not interested in a clash between the Judiciary and the Parliament.

What is the objective of the UN, and hence of the western powers in trying to express its concern over the impeachment as if this is the first time it has happened in this country. I cannot remember any body from the west expressing his/her concern over the impeachment of Mr. Neville Samarakoon. When the impeachment motion was handed over to the Speaker of the Parliament, the relevant standing orders were not ready and the Parliament had to adopt the relevant standing orders while the impeachment motion was being considered by the Parliamentary Select Committee.

Politics being politics it is no wonder that the politicians who opposed the impeachment of Mr. Neville Samarkoon are behind the attempt to impeach Dr. Shirani Bandarnayake and vice versa. The politicians are not known for consistency and that type of behaviour could be expected from them.

However, though we criticize the politicians for inconsistencies we are no better as we are also influenced by our politics in spite of the fact that we are just ordinary citizens. Most of the so called ordinary citizens have political views whether they are political animals or not, and our positions are determined by our politics.

So are the attitudes of the western diplomats, statesmen etc., and international community meaning the western countries that are not devoid of vested interests. The west is not employing double standards in deciding on so called human rights, good governance, transparency, freedom of expression etc., but is interested in keeping their system in tact. The west does not like the “Rajapakse Regime” and would do anything to bring this government down.

The west knows that in spite of western style development for want of an alternative, the present Sri Lankan government is not following their own Chinthanaya. Unfortunately the government does not have its own Chinthanaya and it is not consistent in its policies. It is to be expected as the national intelligentsia not only has to overcome the system that has been built by the westerners during the last five centuries, but most of them still believe in the so called educated rural youth to take this country forward.

The educated youth or anybody else is not one versed with knowledge created within our culture but consist of those who have gone through the school system and the universities set up by the English and nothing much could be expected from them. For most of them and their mentors knowledge created in our culture is not scientific, and is nothing but myth. Myanmar that has not been able to come up with an alternative system of knowledge and development has failed, and Obama is visiting that country in order to celebrate the capitulation of Burma to the west.

As mentioned above the west wants to see this government defeated but so far fortunately for us they have not found a method to bring the government down. They tried various springs including the academic spring but instead of springs they have had autumns. FUTA is complaining that the government is not fulfilling the promises but what the leadership does not tell the membership and the public is that apart from withdrawing some circulars, naturally after studying them, the government has not given any other promises. So much for the academic spring of some juvenile lecturers.

Now we are witnessing a forced Pakistan Spring where there was a clash between the judiciary and presidency. In Sri Lanka the Parliament has more power than the Judiciary as the sovereignty of the people in judicial matters is exercised by the Parliament through the courts and not by the courts directly. Those who went before the Appeals Court against the Parliamentary Select Commiittee would not serve the cause of the west as the latter is interested in a clash between the Judiciary and the Presidency.

It is not difficult to understand the concern of UN over the impeachment of Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake when they were not concerned with the impeachment of Mr. Neville Samarakoon by the J R Jayawardene Regime! What the west has so far failed to understand is that Sri Lanka does not experience springs and autumns and that Chandrika Bandranaike is not a Suki though both are daughters of national figures, and that Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sarath Fonseka, Tilwin Silva , R Sambandan are not alternatives to Mahinda Rajapakse at present.
