PUTIN Repudiates the Globalist Model
The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has given a talk at the ASI Forum in Moscow on 20 July entitled ”Strong Ideas for a New Time”.
President Putin’s words paint a truly revolutionary picture. He talks of a global transformation gaining momentum and getting stronger.

He says: “these enormous changes around the world are irreversible. National and global processes are underway to develop the fundamentals and principles of a harmonious, fairer and more community focused and safe world order, as an alternative to the existing world order or unipolar world and which, due to its nature, is a brake on developing countries.
The model of total domination by the “Golden Billion” (of westerners) is unfair. Why should this Golden Billion, which is only part of the global population, dominate everyone else and enforce its rules of conduct that are based on the illusion of exceptionalism? It divides the world into first and second class people and is, therefore, essentially racist and neo-colonialist.
The underlying globalist and pseudo liberal ideology is becoming increasingly more like totalitarianism and is restraining creative endeavor and free historical creation. One gets the impression that the west is unable to offer the world a model of the future of its own. Indeed, it was no accident that the Golden Billion achieved its goal and achieved quite a lot, but it got there not because it was implementing certain noble concepts, it mainly got to where it is by robbing other people in Asia and Africa. That is how it went.
India was robbed for an extensive period of time. This is why the Golden Billion is terrified of other global centres potentially coming up with their own development alternatives. No matter how much the west and the supranational elites strive to preserve the existing order, a new era and a new stage in world history are coming. Only fully sovereign states are in a position to ensure becoming high growth democracies and to become a role model for others in terms of standard of living and quality of life, the protection of traditional values and high humanistic ideals and development models where an individual is not just a ‘means;’ but the ultimate beneficiary of those ideals and goals.
Security is about freedom of natural development and thus for the development of every individual. It is about the technological, cultural, intellectual and educational solvency of a state. That is what it is. No doubt a responsible, active nationalist orientated society is the most important component of sovereignty. I am convinced that, in order to be strong, independent and competitive, we need to improve the mechanism for people to participate in their country’s life and to make these mechanisms more open and fair. That includes a mechanism for having a more open democracy, which also enables people’s involvement in addressing the critical problems facing society and the world. The way forward is to rely on people’s creative potential.

Here we see an outright repudiation of the globalist model. Putin says the globalist model is, itself, a legacy of western 19th century imperialism. He says the former colonies of the west, which make up the greater part of the global population, have nothing to gain from continuing the present outdated western-focused model and that Russia, through its activities in places like Ukraine, is, in effect fighting the cause of the Global South. And that Globalism needs to be replaced by a system of true independent and sovereign states including by extension, those in the Global South.
Mr. Putin has been very active these last few days. He has negotiated the food transport agreement with Turkey, and he has spoken with Saudi Arabia, he has explained his gas pipeline engineering problems with the West, and he has spoken with the leadership of Iran, he is conducting a military operation and he has attended and spoken at this Forum.
