Habits, habitats and armed forces

Those who were not in favour of operations against the LTTE have a habit. They wanted the operations to be stopped and engage in so called peace talks with the terrorists. The UNP ridiculed the armed forces and Ranil Wickremesinghe referred to Thoppigala as a jungle. Ravi Karunanayake wanted to find out whether the army was in Medawachchiya when they were in Killinochchi. He probably does not know where Alimankada is as he thought it was another name for Pamankada. As far as he is concerned it appeared that all mankadas were the same. Then Lakshman Kirielele said any ass or some other animal could fight a war. The NGO pundits and self appointed specialists on warfare, echoing the westerners, said that the “war” cannot be won by either party. However, the Sri Lankan armed forces were able to defeat the LTTE and to become the first to defeat a terrorist organization.

The peace talks were to be based on the thirteenth amendment, which was a result of the infamous Indo Lanka Accord which is not a document valid politically or legally. The Indo Lanka Accord referred to the historical habitats of the Tamils in Sri Lanka, and it was to these so called habitats that power was to be devolved in order to solve the “discriminations” against the Tamils by the Sinhala Buddhists, who in the eyes of the westerners and NGO pundits are the worst Chauvinists in the world. The government of the Sinhala people as the Tamil racists call the Sri Lankan government has no respect at all for human rights according to the west, their agent UNP and of course the NGO pundits and the TNA.

Almost all these anti Sinhala Buddhist organizations habitually tell us though the war was won, peace was not won. They seem to be of the opinion that peace could have been won without winning the war. For them winning the “war” was not a necessary condition for peace. It is clear what they mean by peace is not what the vast majority of Sinhalas and probably Tamils have in their minds. As far as the UNP, NGO pundits and others are concerned peace is nothing but betraying the sovereignty of the people and the territorial integrity of the nation. For them peace is handing over a piece of the country to the Tamil racists. In any event most of them talk of a non-existing Tamil nation and their self determination.

It is wrong to say that there is no peace in this country. Peace was won by the Sri Lankan armed forces under the political leadership of the President and the direction of the Defense Secretary. However, England and some other western countries want another \war against the Sinhala people this time through various means. They employ the dispersed Tamils in their countries on one hand and on the other, their so called international organizations such as the UN and human rights agencies, and of course the NGOs. The displaced Tamils operate through a faction of the TNA that had its annual conference recently in Vavunia without Ananda Sangari who was not sympathetic to the LTTE but with the widows of the terrorists and others such as Sumanthiran the MP appointed on the national list. The anti Sinhala lobby shout slogans inside and outside the Parliament, stage demonstrations in London and Geneva and attempt to give the impression that there is no peace in the country. In the whole of Sri Lanka the arrival of the prince of peace was celebrated day before yesterday unlike in the days of Prabhakaran the devil of terrorism and some Bishops of the Catholic Church who dominated the Church then, and some other Churches. We cannot forget that the Bishop of a Christian denomination referred to the terrorist leader as a humane person. It is time for the Catholic and other Christian Churches to look back and correct the mistakes. After all there are Sinhala Catholics and Christians whom the Church cannot ignore in the name of finding so called peace that is detrimental to the sovereignty of the people and the territorial integrity of the nation.

As we have said very often, this so called solution is backed by the Tamil racist Vadukoddai resolution, though the Tamil problem is more than hundred and fifty years old. The Tamil racists took so much time to formulate “the problem” in order to suit the solution that they had from the state council days. Nagnathan who became the treasurer of the Illankai Thamil Arasu Kadchchi (Lanka Tamil State Party) later wanted a separate country for the Tamils even before the first Parliament was elected in 1947. In the case of Tamil racism the solution came first and then the problem was formulated.

However, the process was so artificial that the solution does not address the problem. The problem is “discrimination against the Tamils by the Sinhala Buddhists and their government”. The solution is devolution of power to the historical habitats of the Tamils, identified by the Indo Lanka Accord as the Northern and Eastern Provinces, though the “Eelam Map” refers to an area to the north of Chillaw on the western coast and Panama in the eastern cost. This “Eelam Map” is based on judicial districts demarcated by the Dutch who imported the Vellalas to the country. Incidentally the word Eelam was coined by C Sunthralingam who spelt it as Eylom. If the Tamils are discriminated then a solution has to be found for all the Tamils in the country and not only for the Tamils living in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

It has to be emphasized that the solution depends on the concept of habitats as stated in the Indo Lanka Accord. It does not depend on the so called homeland concept and it is clear that it is the concept of habitats that is used to justify the solution of devolution of power to the Northern Province and the Eastern province. Thus when the Catholic Church issues a statement recognizing habitats of the Tamils, the Sinhalas especially the Sinhala Buddhists are disturbed to say the least. The Church in its defense may say that they do not refer to the homeland, but then the notorious Indo Lanka Accord also does not refer to the homeland of the Tamils. The Catholic Church like any other organization is entitled to engage in politics forgetting the differences between the God and Caesar without correcting its mistakes, but then the Church should realize that it is not immune from criticism.

It should be realized even by some ministers belonging to the leftover left, not to mention the TNA leaders that the Provincial Councils in operation today do not confirm to the Indo Lanka Accord as such. The Northern and Eastern Provincial councils act separately and the provinces are not amalgamated for the purpose of implementing the thirteenth amendment and the provincial councils act. The present provincial councils are not a solution to the so called discrimination of the Tamils and they function in the framework of the “eksesath rajya” a form of unitary state if one were to use modern terminology. The Northern Province Provincial council is not different from any other provincial council in the country and this is something that the TNA should realize sooner than later. The original idea of provincial councils was bound to fail as there was no problem to be solved envisaged by the so called solution.

It is in this background that we have to consider the employment of the armed forces in the country. Sumanthiran who said a few weeks ago in a television discussion that there were no Tamil speaking policemen in most of the police stations in the Northern Province, but  did not respond to the media spokesperson for the Police who challenged the honourable MP, is now shouting slogans against the presence of the Army in the Jaffna Peninsula. It is the commander of the Army who decides where to employ the platoons, and as long as Premachandrans, Sritharans who want a separate state it appears that the commander cannot confine the army to the barracks. The Provincial Council of the Northern Province has no authority to decide where the army should be stationed and as long as the Army is not involved in civil administration there is nothing wrong in having the army in the streets of Jaffna or Colombo, if the commander is of the opinion that there are separatists who are controlled by external forces that act against the sovereignty of the people and the integrity of the nation. The faction of Sampanthan and Wigneshwaran is only using Sumanthiran to counter the faction of the dispersed Tamils in the TNA, and this policy would not succeed.

The politics of TNA

It is said that the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is getting ready to remove the name of Ananda Sangari from its membership list. It is true that Ananda Sangari did not poll enough preferential votes at the Northern Province Provincial Council elections to be elected as a member of the provincial council. The TNA received more than seventy percent of the vote of the people in the province, and it was clear that they voted under instructions from the dispersed Tamils who now reside in the western countries. We have come to a stage where the politics in the Northern Province are increasingly being manipulated by the western countries through the displaced Tamils in those countries. It is a case of western countries maintaining the dispersed Tamils and the latter maintaining their relatives in the province through money sent to them.

It is said that a last minute campaign through SMS, telephone calls etc., was conducted by the dispersed Tamils to make the voters in the Northern Province go to the polling booths and from all accounts it can be inferred that the latter were asked to vote for the TNA with preferential vote for those candidates who are sympathetic to the LTTE. The people elected Anandi, the wife of an LTTE terrorist leader with the second largest preferential vote after Wigneshwaran and rejected Ananda Sangari who is not sympathetic to the LTTE.

It appears that there are at least two groups within the TNA. The first faction is the party of the Eelamist dispersed Tamils in the western countries and the second faction is that led by Sampanthan. This latter group has the blessings of India and had their support as well, but it has to compete with the faction of the Eelamist dispersed Tamils. It also appears that the Colombo based Tamils who are not with the UNP, support mainly the Sampanthan faction, while the Tamils in the other areas of the country are generally with the SLFP led UPFA. However, as far as the Northern Province is concerned the vote is being manipulated by the dispersed Tamils  that do not belong to the group of elite Tamils in the country. The elite Tamils support either the UNP or the Sampanthan faction and those who are sympathetic to the latter faction in general are more Hindu oriented than Christian oriented.

The dispersed Tamils in the western countries are not from the elite families and are products of free education. There is this difference between the Tamil leadership of the Tamil Congress for example and the present leadership. The leaders such as G G Ponnambalam and those who preceded him came from the elite families but after the introduction of free education and after Chelvanayakam the leadership changed from the elite to the educated non elite. It is the non elite free educated that give leadership to the dispersed Tamils who in turn lead the Tamils in the Northern Province. Sampanthan with the support of the Indians would like to go back to the days of the elite with Wigneshwaran but it is clear that he has a problem at hand.

The western countries also would like the elite but the non elite free educated in the west would not allow it to happen. The west, especially England does not mind that, as their main objective is to teach the Sinhala people a lesson for all that the latter did and do against the English colonial power. Prabhakaran has for all purposes made an irreversible change in the Jaffna society and it is the dispersed Tamils with the support of England, which calls the shots.

The dispersed free educated Tamils who were educated mostly at the expense of the Sinhala people since the latter as the majority would have contributed more to the public purse that spent money for free education among other such social welfare measures have displaced the elite Tamils and it appears that Sampanthan is fighting a losing battle. However, he is determined to fight back and the present shouting of slogans by various sectors has to be considered in this background.

Since the provincial council elections for the Northern Province, the Tamil politics have gone back to the days of the Vadukkodai resolution and the Indo Lanka agreement that is not valid either legally or politically. There is familiar talk against the National Flag, National Anthem in addition to attempts to celebrate the so called mahivir day at various places in the northern province. Even the Catholic Church that has Bishops such as Rayappu Joseph who did not make statements because of fear of Prabhakaran now talks again of traditional habitats of the Tamils. One may try to split hairs by telling that traditional habitats are not the same as homeland, but the net political result is the same whatever the term used. The infamous Indo Lanka agreement that was forced on us by the Gandhi dynasty and the Indian Brahmins also referred to the Northern Province and the Eastern Province as the habitats of the Tamils ignoring the fact that these provinces were demarcated by the English as late as 1889. The Catholic Church echoing Wigneshwaran and the others want the removal of the governor of the Northern Province on the grounds that the latter was an ex army officer.

The Tamil leadership and others who echo these slogans have gained a new life after the visit of David Cameron who threw the usual English sophisticated but bogus manners out of the window, and behaved exposing his true character as an English Prime Minister. It is the anti Sinhala attitude, especially the anti Sinhala Buddhist attitude that was exhibited nakedly by David Cameron and the Sinhala people should be thankful to him for being not sophisticated. The English are not democrats at all and they cover their autocracy by bogus sophisticated mannerisms.

Sampanthan and Wigneshwaran as long as the Tamil politics in the Northern Province are determined by the dispersed Tamils and the western countries led by England, have to compete with TNA leaders such as Premachandran, Sritharan and Anandi to name only a few. It is a pity to see Wigneshwaran competing with Anandi but it is politics whether one likes it or not. India is not in a position to help them as the Indian Prime Minister by not attending the CHOGAM has abdicated the role of India in Sri Lankan Tamil politics. Jayalalitha is only an inflated figure who has no authority outside Tamil Nadu. Her talk of becoming the Prime Minister of India is nothing but wishful thinking of an aging actress.

There have been ex army officers who were acceptable to the Tamil leaders as the governors of the Northern and Eastern Provinces from the days of Vartharajaperumal and it is nothing but opportunistic politics of the TNA leaders who supported the candidature of the commander of the army, Sarath Fonseka to the post of President of the country objecting to the present governor of the Northern Province merely because the latter had functioned as an officer in the army. Even Vartharajaperumal hoisted the national flag when he was the Chief Minister of the combined Northern and eastern Provinces and we all know that India was behind him. The present objections to the national flag stems from Eelam politics of the dispersed Tamils who are being used by England, and Sampanthan and Wigneshwaran who would not receive much support from India have to readjust their politics to the whims and fancies of the dispersed Tamils. Wigneshwaran will have to attempt to visit high security zones in order to make news in his competition with Anandi. However, the irony is that whether they adjust or not they would soon find themselves in the same boat as Ananda Sangari, and their best bet would be to corporate with the government and work for the welfare of the Tamils in the Northern Province and cut the umbilical cord that attach the latter to the dispersed Tamils in the west.

Preparing for Geneva

Geneva has now become an annual event as the Avurudda, Vesak, Deepavali, Christmas, Ramadan etc., or even the school big matches and other such events, and we have to prepare in advance for the occasion. However, there is a difference. Geneva is a match played on a turf prepared by the western countries according to their rules that may be changed at any time even during the match to suit the organizers. Geneva is another weapon in the armoury of the west, which is used to maintain the hegemony of Greek Judaic Christian (GJC) Chinthanaya and Judaic Christian culture. The umpires and the scorers are drawn by the organizers from their team and in order to survive we have to get as much support as from those who are not with the organizers.

It is the “human rights” that is bowled by the organizers with a ball tampered by the umpires. The human rights is a concept of the present western rulers (if one insists the bourgeoisie) first formulated against the western feudalist states to “protect” the individual from the state. The west can think in terms of dichotomies only and the GJC Chinthanaya promoted the individual against the society (collectiveness) of the Catholic Chinthanaya. However, as far as human rights were concerned the individual was not any ordinary person found in the streets but belonged to the rising bourgeoisie. The bourgeoisie was based on the GJC Chinthanaya while the feudalistic rulers were emerged in the Catholic Chinthanaya. Having come to power the bourgeoisie adopted human rights to suit them and the Afro Asians did not have any human rights as such. In Sri Lanka we are reminded of English governors such as Brownrigg who rigged the western concept of human rights and Torrington who tortured the Sinhala Bhikkus and lay persons not necessarily in the battle field.

It should be mentioned that the GJC Chinthanaya is older than the bourgeoisie having incepted towards the end of the fifteenth century in Southern Europe, especially in Italy. Renaissance, Reformation, Western Science, Technology, Art, Industrial Revolution, Capitalism, French Revolution, Enlightenment etc., are all products of the GJC Chinthanaya that is now declining though it still maintains its hegemony. The GJC Chinthanaya at present is so bankrupt that it cannot identify phenomena. The use of the word “post” to identify events is a case in point in this regard. In its heyday the GJC Chinthanaya did not identify capitalism as post feudalism, but now there is a plethora of terms such as post modernism, post cubism, and even post conflict Sri Lanka. The use of the term post stems from the inability of the thinkers in the west in GJC Chinthanaya to identify phenomena. The other term used by the western thinkers is neo–something, in order to hide certain aspects of the phenomena. Thus we have concepts such as neo - colonialism, and very soon we will have neo-human beings. In Sri Lanka we do not have thinkers but only tinkers who mess around with the western concepts.

In Geneva the organizers including the umpires and scorers will be discussing the human rights of “post conflict” Sri Lanka, however post conflict referring to the last two weeks of the “conflict” as well. It is mainly the last two weeks of the “conflict” that they would be interested though we are interested in the whole of the colonial period, which extends even up to the present “neo-colonialism”. The human rights as far as Sri Lanka is concerned can be divided into two categories. The two categories being those associated with the Tamils and that are applicable to the country in general. So called freedom of expression, independence of the judiciary, independence of media belong to the second category. However, there would not have been a second category if not for the first category. As far as the west is concerned the human rights violation in this country exist simply because the present government does not adhere to the dictates of the west in certain matters, especially in connection with the Tamil problem created, nurtured, nourished and maintained by the English. If Prabhakaran was given the opportunity to escape in the ship that Nambiar tried to organize on behalf of the west there would not have been any human rights problem in Sri Lanka, though an Eelam in exile would have been established to the satisfaction of England and recognized by most of the western countries.

The present government with all its problems, does not bow down to GJC Chinthanaya on certain aspects of the sovereignty of the people and territorial integrity of the nation. This is what the west does not like and the human rights violations as interpreted by them will be made or the tampered ball will be bowled at us in Geneva. In 1989 -92 period human rights issue was not taken up by the west against the governments of J R Jayawardhane and Premadasa and one cannot say that they were the best democrats found in the world. Premadasa may have declared Gladstone persona non gratia but he was prepared to bow down to the England vis a vis India and went to the extent of supplying arms to the LTTE against India. The IPKF had to be sent back, but giving arms to the LTTE cannot be justified, and the west did not have anything against Premadasa on this count. Perhaps when the Sinhala youth are slaughtered it is all right as it was the Sinhala people who fought the English colonialism right throughout. The question remains as to whether the armed forces killed the Tamils indiscriminately as they did in the case of the Sinhala youth who were sometimes not even associated with the JVP. As far as the GJC Chinthanaya is concerned it is clear that the Sinhala people, except those paid by the NGOs, do not have human rights as interpreted by the west.

As we get ready for Geneva all the familiar arguments by the Sri Lanka NGO tinkers, could be heard.  We are told that in order to win in Geneva it is essential that we implement the 13 A plus, implement the LLRC report etc. Similar arguments were heard during the thirty year “war” period and the Sri Lankans were told that the so called discrimination of the Tamils must be stopped. However, nobody has defined what these discriminations are, and what the west says amounts to that the sovereignty and territorial integrity should be given up by Sri Lanka. The loss of privileges of the English educated Tamils under the English colonial rulers is interpreted as discrimination against the Tamils in general. The solution for the so called discrimination as proposed by the Tamil leaders is nothing but continuation of their dominance at least in the Eastern Province and the northern Province as demarcated by the English, leaving the Tamils in the other provinces to be continued to be discriminated! The “solution” itself suggests that there is no discrimination of the Tamils in this country. It should be clear that there is no so called genocide against the Tamils in Sri Lanka, and the fact that the Tamils came over to the armed forces during the last two weeks of the humanitarian operations running away from the LTTE and that about 280,000 of the human shield was rescued by the armed forces speak volumes much more than the bogus reports by Darusmann, Navi Pillai and others. The 40,000 killed during the last two weeks stem from false assumptions regarding the numbers in the human shield as assumed by Samapanthan and others, and it is not a difficult task to expose their calculations.

We should not agree to any so called international investigations for the simple reason international is only a substitute for the England led west. These “internationals” are biased and what the government has done so far in connection with the missing people, lost property is more than enough. The LLRC was a committee appointed by the government and not a committee whose recommendations in its entirety have to be implemented. It is the government that decides what recommendations have to be implemented, and in that connection the Sinhala opinion should not be disregarded. If we “won” in Geneva in previous years giving false promises by those who represented Sri Lanka then those representatives have to be reprimanded. We are not bound by false promises given by representatives who are biased against Sinhala people, especially against Sinhala Buddhists, with vested interests, and think that the Tamils have been discriminated against and devolution of powers to the Northern and Eastern Provinces is the only solution to the Tamil problem. Let us campaign among our friends in the world exposing the hypocrisy of the English led west, which uses the dispersed Tamils in their countries against Sri Lanka. We should expect more acts such as attempted visits by Wigneshwaran to high security zones, sathyagrahas by some TNA members in order to “attract” the attention of the western media and also of video footage by channel 4 but we should be able to expose these gimmicks of the Tamil leaders and the west to our friends.

What is India up to? - II

In the interview given to the “Daily Mirror” of 22nd July 2013, Vignesvaran, the Chief Ministerial candidate of the TNA, at the Northern Province Provincial Council elections further states “If not for the support of the international community, particularly India, Sri Lanka could not have got rid of the LTTE so swiftly. So India, on its part although it was not done in the 80s, it was done in 2009 and therefore, I don’t believe it is a ground to set aside 13A, which takes root from the international agreement between India and Sri Lanka. You cannot play the fool with such agreements and without the permission of India; it is not possible for Sri Lanka to act unilaterally.” This is queer logic to say the least and by this answer Vignesvaran attempts to claim that the Indo Sri Lanka Accord is still valid. It would be interesting to find out what the Accord said in this regard. It is given in clause 2.9.

“2.9 The emergency will be lifted in the Eastern and Nothern Provinces by Aug. 15, 1987. A cessation of hostilities will come into effect all over the island within 48 hours of signing of this agreement. All arms presently held by militant groups will be surrendered in accordance with an agreed procedure to authorities to be designated by the Government of Sri Lanka.

Consequent to the cessation of hostilities and the surrender of arms by militant groups, the army and other security personnel will be confined to barracks in camps as on 25 May 1987. The process of surrendering arms and the confining of security personnel moving back to barracks shall be completed within 72 hours of the cessation of hostilities coming into effect.”

Though the security personnel were moved backed to the barracks, as well known, the process of surrendering arms were not completed within 72 hours of the cessation of hostilities that should have come into effect  within 48 hours of the signing of the agreement. As subsequent events showed the hostilities were not ceased within 48 hours of signing the accord and the Accord became defunct within 48 hours. That meant that there was no Indo Lanka Accord after the 31st of July 1987. It was India that did not fulfill the requirements expected from her and thus unilaterally abrogated the Accord. Even if it is assumed that hostilities were ceased within 48 hours of signing the Accord the LTTE did not surrender the arms within 72 hours of the cessation of hostilities coming into effect. It implies that by 4th of August 1987 latest the Indo Lanka accord became null and void as a result of India unilaterally abrogating it.

Now Vignesvaran defending India that forced the TNA to nominate him as the Chief Ministerial candidate as Sampanthan himself has admitted to Thinakural and Virakesari of 22nd of July, claims that though India did not do what it was required to do in the eighties it did so in 2009. It is good of Vignesvaran to admit that India did not comply with the Indo Lanka Accord in the eighties. However India was not given indefinite time to accomplish its tasks and in terms of the Accord India should have been in possession of the arms of the LTTE by 3rd of August 1987 the latest. The accord did not envisage of defeating the LTTE in 2009 with India supporting the Sri Lankan armed forces in the humanitarian operations. In any event there was no Indo Lanka Accord to be honoured or violated after the 3rd of August 2009, and even if Vignesvaran’s claim that if not for the support given by India, Sri Lanka would not have defeated the LTTE so swiftly is correct, it does not imply that India honoured the Indo Lanka Accord in 2009, as there was no agreement valid by then. In any event the Indo Lanka Accord does not mention anything on defeating the LTTE by 2009.

Now what about the claim that if not for the support of India and so called international community the LTTE would not have been defeated so swiftly? It is said that India has the fourth largest army in the world, but we all know that it could not make the LTTE surrender its arms let alone defeating it militarily. What is the support that the so called international community meaning the western countries including Japan, and India gave the Sri Lankan armed forces to defeat the LTTE? The western countries were interested in seeing the Sri Lankan forces being defeated by the LTTE  but there was no way that they could directly interfering with the “war”. They supplied everything from arms to funds not only through the NGOs but directly through their embassies and even Catholic clergy. At the last moment they wanted to take the LTTE leadership including Prabhakaran, and Nambiar  the special envoy of the UN Secretary General who is only a puppet of the USA, was in Sri Lanka with the intention of bringing a ship to take the LTTE leadership to the west. However it failed and it is this fiasco that led the Channel Four and other western agencies to come out with propaganda against the President, the Defense Secretary and the Armed Forces, falsely accusing them of violation of human rights etc.

India did not want the LTTE to establish an Eelam (Eylom of Suntharalingam) as it could not handle Prabhakaran the way it wanted. Prabhakaran was prepared to obey the west but not India as he did not want his Eelam to be dictated by the big brother. He did not approve of the Indo Lanka Accord and did not surrender arms to the IPKF. Finally he made sure that Rajiv Gandhi was killed and he wanted an Eelam established directly without going through so called devolution of power, federation (confederation), Eelam, with the assistance of India. He probably knew that an Eelam established with the help of India would become a state of India together with the other parts of Sri Lanka realizing the dream of Nehru and his dynasty. In the third stage of Tamil racism in Sri Lanka, India did not want a non Vellala Prabhakaran to lead the armed struggle to establish an Eelam.

We have now entered the fourth stage of Tamil racism in Sri Lanka. At the end of the third stage in the Nandikadal Lagoon the Government of Sri Lanka gave a political solution to the so called Tamil problem as “warfare” is nothing but an extension of politics by other means. All the agreements signed during the second and third stages of Tamil racism became null and void with the defeat of the LTTE in May 2009. However the government was not able to convert the political victory into law due to the non availability of a two third majority at that time and also due to the hegemonic western knowledge that is imparted to us through schools and the universities. It is time to abolish the thirteenth amendment, on which there is no agreement between India and Sri Lanka though it may be a result of the now defunct Indo Lanka Accord. Sri Lanka does not have to consult India or any other country to amend its constitution.

In the meantime India has not given up Nehru’s dream of making Sri Lanka another state of india, and is working towards that goal slowly and gradually. India would attempt to have leaders of the so called Tamil speaking community in Sri Lanka according to its whims and fancies and in this regard they would not tolerate any leader with the slightest connections with the LTTE or Prabhakaran. India is working on the formula devolution of power, Federal state or confederation, Eelam, wars between Eelam and the rest of Sri Lanka, and finally a new state of India in the Indian Ocean. It could also lead to wiping out of Buddhism in South Asia finally. The “choice” of Vignesvaran as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the Northern Province provincial council is the first step in this direction. Having become the chief minister Vignesvaran will agitate for police and land powers with the help of India with the intention of establishing a federal state. It is the “little now more later” policy of Chelvanayakam that India advocates and it is in the interest of a Unitary Sri Lanka that the government amends the relevant provisions of the thirteenth amendment if not abolish it without delay.

What is India up to?

When Wimal Weerawansa said that C. V. Vignesvaran was chosen as the TNA candidate for the post of Chief Minister  in the Northern Province provincial council by two embassies nobody expected the latter to confirm it. Vignesvaran is not new to politics as he has made political speeches at least from the day he became a judge in the Supreme Court. People including Judges of the Higher Courts have a Chinthanaya and their speeches, writings and all other activities are based on the particular Chinthanaya possessed by them. This applies to artists as well and directors of cinema are not free from their Chinthanaya as could be asserted from what is stated about the film “Flying Fish”. Vignesvaran has never been a so called unbiased person in politics and it is hilarious to listen to him dismissing Wimal Weerawansa’s statement as a statement made by a politician. Vignesvaran by that dismissal pretends to be above politics and that he is not a politician. He is now involved in party politics, and it is clear that by dismissing outright Wimal Weerawansa’s statement as that of a politician, Vignesvaran has shown that he has matured as a politician. In politics as well as in giving evidence before a court of justice hiding the truth is a cardinal principle practiced by those who are involved.

It was not only Wimal Weerawansa who knew this story as some other politicians including cabinet ministers were aware of what was happening behind the screen. I myself came to be aware of the story from another source but it was Weerawansa who went public with the information he had. It appears that there has been influence by other countries to nominate Wignesvaran as the Chief Ministerial candidate of the TNA at the Northern Province provincial council elections if we are to believe the following report that appeared in the Daily News of 23rd of July 2013. “The two Tamil newspapers Thinakural and Virakesari in their lead stories yesterday (July 22) attributed this statement to TNA Leader R. Sampanthan, who had said that they were compelled to make the decision regarding Vigneshwaran on the request of some foreign countries and organizations, ‘as the nominee has international support.’ The two newspapers quoted Sampanthan as saying that he decided to clear the air about the selection of the candidate as there were ‘false rumours being floated to tarnish the party’s image.’ In a bid to persuade the TNA members over the rationality of appointing Vigneswaran as TNA chief ministerial candidate, R Sampanthan said some foreign countries and organizations compelled the TNA to take this decision. When the decision was taken, MPs Senadhirajah, Sumanthiran, Sridharan, Sarabavanan, and Selvaraja were also present”.

One does not have to be a so called political analyst to discover that India is one of the foreign countries. It is not a master stroke of Sampanthan to nominate Vignesvaran and it only indicates how much TNA politics is influenced by India with the blessings of the western countries led by USA at present with England behind every movement on the chess board. India has no love for the Sinhala Buddhists who preserved and protected Bududahama over a period of two thousand and six hundred years while it was discarded in India. The Brahmins never liked the Anathmavadi Bududahama and it was not only the Muslims who are responsible for the final overthrow of Bududahama and Budusasuna from India. The Vedic Brahmins who are Athmavadins   have no love for the Sinhala Buddhists and the Brahmins are responsible for the insertion of Athmavadi concepts into what may be called the Bududahama of the third council or sangayana.  India which has no ability or desire to protect Budusasuna in that country is only paying lip service as far as the protection of Buddhists, Bhikkus and places of worship in India important for the Buddhists is concerned. India is not a so called non aligned country and with the support of the west it is maneuvering to become the hegemonic force in South Asia. India is using Tamil Nadu to achieve what it wants, though the message sent is that it is Tamil Nadu that influences India to adopt a certain policy towards Sri Lanka.

It should be clear that India over the years has been attempting to do in Sri Lanka what it has done to Sikkim, Assam and other parts of the subcontinent, failing of which it will make Sri Lanka another Bhutan. India has no love for the Tamils as such but it uses the so called Tamil problem in Sri Lanka to achieve its ambitions. India wants politicians in Sri Lanka to do as they want but it is clear that though there are some Sinhala politicians and many Tamil politicians who would meekly obey the Indian Kautilyans, the Mahinda Rajapakse government is not prepared to do so. The Indian government does not like Mawai Senadhiraja as the Chief Ministerial candidate as he is believed to have had connections with the LTTE. It is not a secret that Prabhakaran did not bow down to Delhi and India did not approve his attitude. India wants politicians of the “caliber” of Vignesvaran who would defend India using queer logic. The following expert from an interview of Vignesvaran published in the Daily Mirror on the 22nd of July 2013 reveals the character of the politician.

Q: Other reasons championed by those who call to repeal the powers of 13A is that it is not constitutionally valid and neither is it legally binding due to a referendum not being held and India failing to uphold their part of the Indo-Lanka accord. What are your comments on such claims?

A: A referendum was not necessary because it was with regard to the North and East and since the Supreme Court ordered the demerging of the two provinces, that argument is not viable. Moreover, the justification of India failing to uphold their side of the agreement is also void because that is what they did in 2009. If not for the support of the international community, particularly India, Sri Lanka could not have got rid of the LTTE so swiftly. So India, on its part although it was not done in the 80s, it was done in 2009 and therefore, I don’t believe it is a ground to set aside 13A, which takes root from the international agreement between India and Sri Lanka. You cannot play the fool with such agreements and without the permission of India; it is not possible for Sri Lanka to act unilaterally.”

This is what the Indo Lanka Accord has to say on the referendum. “2.3 There will be a Referendum on or before 31st December 1988 to enable the people of the Eastern Province to decide whether:
a) The Eastern Province should remain linked with the Northern Province as one administrative unit, and continue to be governed together with the Northern Province as specified in para 2.2 or:
b) The eastern province should constitute a separate administrative unit having its own distinct provincial council with a separate Governer, Chief Minister and Board of Ministers.

The president may, at his discretion, decide to postpone such a referendum. ”  I would not say that the Indo Lanka Accord is null and void because a referendum was not held as claimed by some others, though I have other reasons to believe that the Accord is now defunct. The Accord says the President of Sri Lanka could decide to postpone the referendum at his discretion. However it is clear that Vignesvaran is using something else in order to defend India.  The decision of the Supreme Court came long after, and the argument of the former judge is not valid with respect to the validity of the Accord to say the least. Vignesvaran is undoubtedly a seasoned politician.  (To be continued)

Abolish the thirteenth amendment

Divineguma bill should have opened the eyes of not only the government MPs but also of the others. The Supreme Court has decided that the Provincial Councils should approve the Bill before it is presented to the Parliament. There may be those who argue that power would be concentrated in the hands of one individual if the bill becomes law. However, if there was no thirteenth amendment it is very unlikely that the Supreme Court would have come to a conclusion to the effect that the bill does not agree with the constitution.

The Divineguma Bill even if it concentrated powers in the hands of a single individual it is not an arbitrary person who would use the powers but a cabinet minister within whose purview the particular Department or the Ministry would have been established. With a change of government, if not before that under a cabinet reshuffle a different individual could have been in charge of the Divineguma project and it is clear that as long as the thirteenth amendment is there it is another threat to the Parliamentary Democracy that has been there for more than sixty years in the country. It may be that we do not have the ideal parliamentary democracy in this country, but then which country has such an ideal system.

The thirteenth amendment as we all know was imposed on us by India in a very unparliamentarily way under the power of the guns. The government MPs were transported to the Parliament in buses from a hotel in Colombo and the SLFP and several other parties opposed the relevant bill. Rajiv Gandhi himself was involved with Dixit employing his “Viceroyal” powers over the elected President and the Parliament of the country. If not for India that trained the terrorists and supported them with the connivance of the western countries led by England that is wrongly referred to as Britain or United Kingdom there would not have been a thirteenth amendment. India and England together with other countries acted in unison to undermine the powers of the Parliament, in an official terrorist manner. It was nothing but terrorism of Dixit though he did not go round the country implanting bombs physically. His bomb was the thirteenth amendment, and it is time that not only our land but law as well is cleared of the bombs that the terrorists have implanted.

The thirteenth amendment has no rationality to be in our supreme law which is the constitution of the republic, as it was enacted in order to solve a so called ethnic problem that was created by the English. We were told that there was an ethnic problem that had to be solved peacefully through negotiations, and India guided by Tamil Nadu joined the west in opposing any operations by the Sri Lankan Armed Forces to eradicate the terrorist menace that was maintained by England led west and India. Various peace organizations were founded with western money and they echoed the views of their masters and mistresses. The peace bandwagon propagated the myth that the LTTE cannot be defeated and that Prabhakaran as a so called war leader was on par with some of the well known westerners. It never came to the enlightened minds of the so called western intellectuals that they should have compared Prabhakaran with at least some of the Cholas to be consistent. However the minds of the west and their henchmen and henchwomen in the NGOs were tuned to the wavelengths coming from the west and they had no time for fine tunings.

The west, India and their paid servants in the peace brigade wanted to base their solution to the so called ethnic problem on the thirteenth amendment and tried to sabotage operations by Armed Forces against the terrorists using even bankrupt ideas such as the Buddhists should not engage in war. If not for the wars the Sinhala Buddhists fought against the Cholas, Pandyas, Cheras and finally the Europeans there would not have been a Sinhala Buddhist culture in this land and anybody who talks of Buddhism Betrayed is planning to undermine the Sinhala Buddhist culture. One finds these so called individuals repeating their masters’ voice, among the anti Sinhala Buddhist Social Scientists and the present FUTA leadership is well known for his anti Sinhala Buddhist views.

With the defeat of the LTTE in the Nandikadal Lagoon, the thirteenth amendment that was considered as the alternative course of action to the operations has lost any reason empirical theoretical or otherwise to exist in the constitution of the country and the government should have taken steps to abolish the thirteenth amendment soon after the LTTE terrorists were defeated three years ago. The thirteenth amendment that was imposed on us in a terrorist manner has to go as it is the wish of the people that has been expressed at number of elections. All that has to be done even at this later stage is to bring a nineteenth amendment to abolish the thirteenth amendment.

It is heartening to note that the new Chief Minister of the Eastern Province has said that thirteenth amendment serves no purpose and the Provincial Councils are white elephants or words to that effect. Keeping the thirteenth amendment in our supreme law is not different from keeping the Katunayaka and Trincomalee bases after the “independence”. As long as those bases were kept under the English there was no independence of any sort, and the thirteenth amendment imposed on us by India with the connivance of the west using terrorist methods only restrict our independence as seen by the fate that awaited the Divineguma Bill.

It is clear that with the current constitution of the Provincial Councils it would be not difficult for the President to get the Provincial Councils and the Governor of the Northern Province to approve the Divineguma Bill. However, it should not be done as it would give teeth to the unwanted thirteenth amendment and undermine the powers of the Parliament, which should be the only legislature in the country. We have had an eksesath rajya for thousands of years with one central legislature and administrative powers especially in the day to day work with gamsabhas headed by the Bhikkus of the village temples. They were not village councils elected by the people of the village but comprised leaders of the village who were accepted by the village community as the leaders.

The Supreme Court has given a ruling interpreting the existing law and it is up to the legislature to change the constitution. There is no point in discussing thirteen plus or even thirteen minus as it is clear that even the people in the Northern and the Eastern Provinces are not benefitted by the thirteenth amendment. The Divineguma would have been for the entire country including those two provinces and because of the thirteenth amendment the people in the Eastern and the Northern Provinces are denied of what they should have obtained as developmental measures. It is time for the members of the UPFA to get rid of this obnoxious piece of legislation imposed on us by India with the connivance of the western countries that has become a hindrance to the development of the country, though the western type development envisaged is not to our entire satisfaction.

The Muslim protests

All over the world, especially in the western world there have been protests against a film made in USA, which is defamatory to the life of Prophet Mohamed, according to almost all the Muslims in the world . The violent protests in some countries cannot be condoned but it is very clear that the western media that has the power and the means to control the world public opinion is having a field day condemning the violence forgetting the film. The protests did not take place in a vacuum, and the Muslims world over, it may be a minority of Muslims who were involved but my gut feeling is that most of the Muslims are with those who took to streets though some may not agree with violence, had a valid cause to protest.

The Buddhists are not well organized as the Muslims but they also have reasons to protest against the western behavior when it comes to the attitudes and actions of those who have been brought up in the western Christian culture. When some French kiss the Buddha statue there are people in Sri Lanka with their media who would publish pictures of Christians (Catholics) kissing the statutes of Jesus Christ and his mother. What is implied is that it is not abnormal nor defamatory for Catholics to kiss statues of religious personnel. Even in the case of this particular film on Prophet Mohamed it is claimed that in the name of freedom of expression the person who produced the film had the right to make the film. I have not seen the film myself but the Muslims world over would not have taken to streets if the film was innocent as far as the Islamic religion was concerned.

Sometime ago when Prabhakaran was calling shots there were NGO peace vendors who insisted that the Tamils and the LTTE had no option but to take up arms and engage in terrorist activities. The world was told by the western media that it was the Sinhala Buddhist supremacy that was the cause of the problems. What was propagated for the consumption of the gullible people was that the LTTE would not have taken up arms if not for so called Sinhala Buddhist supremacy. In so many ways the pundits in the NGOs and their mentors in the west justified the terrorism of the LTTE. They also propagated the myth that the LTTE could not be defeated and the government had no option but to engage in so called peace talks with the objective of establishing a Federal state paving the way for an Eelam. The west engaged in that type of propaganda simply because the LTTE was the agent of the west against Sinhala Buddhist culture.

When the western media tells us that the person who made the film had the right to do so they talk from their vantage position as everything in this world is today decided by the western Christian supremacy. It is true that in the west they have made films such as Da Vinci Code, though the film was banned in Sri Lanka if my memory is correct, but these films are made in a world dominated by western Christian hegemony. The book and the film Da Vinci Code were produced by western Christian culture who are looking for a new interpretation of Jesus Christ against the Jesus of the Catholic Church. This should be the last step in the fight of Christianity against Catholicism, and I was not surprised when the Catholic Church here decided to ask the Sri Lankan government to ban the film.

The so called freedom of expression by the western Christian culture is used not only against Muslims and the Buddhists but against Catholics as well if the need arises. In any event even if it is used against Christianity it is not going to be effective as it is the Christian culture that is the hegemonic culture in the world. The Christian culture is in the saddle and the legal systems practiced in various parts of the world are based in the Greek Judaic Christian Chinthanaya, just as much western science is based in that Chinthanaya, and the western Christian Law knows whom have to be punished to defend the western Christian culture. The Law, Science, Medicine including Dentistry, Arts etc., are all produced, created in the Greek Judaic Christian Chinthanaya and one cannot dissociate say Law from Dentistry.

The west is in a position to control the protests by the Muslims against the film on Prophet Mohamed made by the American and he would go untouched, as if at all he would be tried under the American Law which is based on Greek Judaic Christian Chinthanaya. If he is tried under Sharya Law no doubt that he would have a different destiny whether one agrees with that particular law or not. The protests would not last long and the western media would get some Muslim religious leaders to appeal to the masses to be calm. However, this is neither the beginning nor the end of the tussle between the Muslim and the Christian cultures, and I think that we are already in the middle of a cold war between the two cultures.

The Buddhists who are more tolerant do not have the resources to take up the western Christian culture at the present moment. Their strength is more on the spiritual side but to develop an alternative scheme to the existing paradigms and Chinthanaya would take some time. What is forgotten by the westerners is that the present western Christian culture together with western Christian modernity came in to existence only about five hundred years ago and that it is not going to last forever. It is on the decline now and so called postmodernism indicates that the westerners in the Social Sciences are not in a position to create theories as they used to do based on Greek Judaic Christian Chinthanaya. In Western Mathematics the formal program of Hilbert has ended up with Gödel Theorem, and western Theoretical Physics is stuck with Copenhagen Interpretation.

The westerners who began their western science by absorbing knowledge from Hindu, Chinese, Buddhist and Muslim systems into their two valued logic based on Greek Judaic Christian Chinthanaya cannot proceed much further. The western Christianity culture which produced Capitalism as their economic structures has come a long way but fortunately cannot exist for ever. It will collapse with Capitalism not according to Marxism through a working class revolution but experiencing a natural death. The Muslims living both in the western countries and the non western countries would contribute towards the collapse of the western Christian hegemony taken as a world phenomenon. The western science will come to a grinding halt in the near future as the Greek Judaic Christian Chinthanaya is not adequate to maintain the hegemony.

The Muslim protests against the producer of the film degrading Prophet Mohamed will not start a world revolution but they are indicators of what is in store for the Supremacy of the western Christian culture. What is needed is a broad front of the non Christian cultures against the western Christian culture but unfortunately the other cultures have been divided by the very same Christian Culture whose supremacy would be ended in due course. The unity of the other cultures would bring the collapse of the western Christian supremacy much closer to our times and in Sri Lanka if the Tamil Hindus and the Muslims understand that there is no so called Sinhala Buddhist supremacy but a bogey created by the western Christian culture that is only interested in maintaining its dominance then most of the problems in Sri Lanka would be solved. Sri Lanka could become the ashcharya if we can understand this unity can be achieved.

New chapter in Tamil struggle for political rights – A response - I

It is very clear that R. Sampanthan had told the fourteenth national convention of the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) held recently in Batticoloa to work with him to invite the western countries to give them Eelam. He has not come out with the truth in his arguments but he has made it clear that he wants an Eelam and nothing else. In essence what he says is that the Tamils have not been successful in establishing an Eelam through so called peaceful means at first and then through an armed struggle, and the only option now available is to invite the western powers and India to intervene and establish an Eelam. This is the so called new (fourth, the first being the attempt by the English from about 1825 to 1947 to make the English educated Vellalas the leaders of the country, the second and the third respectively being the so called peaceful means of Tamil racism, and bloodshed by Tamil terrorism led by Prabhakaran and supported by ITAK to whom the terrorists were their boys) chapter he is talking about, giving the impression that the west and India had been against Tamil terrorism and Tamil racism until recently. He hides the fact that England had been with the Tamil leaders from the very beginning in the twenties of the nineteenth century and had wanted the latter to become the leaders of Sri Lanka and to weaken Sinhala nationalism that was fighting against English colonialism from 1817. Many people who claim that Sri Lanka won independence without a struggle and bloodshed forget that the Sinhala people had fought against the English to win independence had shed a sea of blood in the process. The massacre of the Sinhalas in Uva Vellassa in 1817-1818 and in Matale and Sathkorale in 1848 by the English “humanitarians” will not be forgotten by the ordinary Sinhala people. It is the historians trained by the English who think that independence was achieved through petitioning to the Whitehall in London. Later towards the end of the nineteenth century the emphasis of the anti colonial independence struggle was on the cultural component rather than on the political component, and the historians mentioned above are prepared to ignore these heroic anti colonial struggles led by Anagarika Dharmapala and the Bhikkus. The English trained historians want to erase these independence struggles from history as it was the Sinhalas, especially the Sinhala Buddhists who fought against colonialism. As far as these historians are concerned independence struggle began after the aborted Ceylonese nation was created by the English first under the leadership of the Burghers then under English educated Vellalas.

In order to remind Sampanthan how the west supported Tamil terrorism even as late as April 2009, I quote the following passage as it appeared in a website. ‘(the website had) found from a leaked cable from the WikiLeaks database, dated April 17,2009. The cable is classified as “CONFIDENTIAL” and written by the US Ambassador in Sri Lanka Robert O. Blake. The cable details the outcome of the April 16-17 visit to Sri Lanka by UNSYG Chief of Staff Vijay Nambiar and civilians evacuate plans the international community had. The cable also details the meetings the diplomatic community has had with Defense Secretary, the Foreign Minister and the President of Sri Lanka. Ambassador Blake wrote “Ambassador warned the Minister that if the government pursued a military option without first allowing high-level diplomacy a chance, Sri Lanka could expect escalating international criticism and actions to demonstrate the international community’s concern. The Ambassador said such actions could include suspension of aid to Sri Lanka, closer scrutiny of IMF lending, possible war crimes investigations, and perhaps other actions.” The website does not refer to what Nambiar was up to in Colombo, namely organizing the departure of Prabhakaran and the other terrorist leaders by means of a ship. In any event what is happening now by stages is what Blake had warned, and we know what is meant by other actions. It is this other action that Sampanthan wants the west to execute in order to establish an Eelam. If the President did not stand up to the pressure exerted by the west and India he would not have had any problems regarding war crimes. He would have been hailed as a democratic leader who brought peace to the country with Sri Lanka in pieces. Nambiars, Blakes and Sampanthans together with Prabhakaran have failed and now they want to turn to chapter four in Tamil racism. Though we did not have access to these cables then, we knew the plans of the west and their henchmen and henchwomen operating in Sri Lanka promoting so called peace process while supporting the LTTE in their attempt to establish Eelam, with money and weapons. We are not fools to believe that the LTTE income was only from extortions, donations, drug deals and other vulture ventures. When Sampanthan says “We gather here following our victory in the passage of the recent Resolution at the UN Human Rights Council, a condemnation against the Sri Lankan government by the international community, which has recognized that the Sri Lankan government has committed the crime of extermination against our people, and that it continues to deny them their political rights.” he is only “postdicting” what Blake had ‘predicted’ in the WikiLeaks.

If Sampanthan wants to show that the English were not involved in promoting English speaking Vellala leaders over the English educated Sinhalas, he is trying to deceive himself. It was the English who created Tamil racism after the Dutch, and who nurtured Tamil racism in the nineteenth, twentieth centuries and up to now in the twenty first century. After about 1975, the west and the Indians supported Tamil terrorism which would not have survived without the support of the former. Sampanthan tries to create the impression that the west and India were against Tamil racism and terrorism but those who have witnessed all the manipulations know how Solheim, Dixith and others including Blake got involved in sponsoring Tamil terrorism after seventies in the guise of promoting peace talk. It is true that the first three chapters of Tamil racism are now closed without any substantial gain for the Tamil racists. It is also true that the Tamil racists are not in a position to go through the whole exercise again as it is difficult to organize the ordinary Tamils who have suffered a lot under Prabhakaran to fight against the government and the Sinhalas. What Samapnthan and other Tamil leaders should have done was to ponder why Tamil racism had failed in the first three chapters. Had they done that they would have realized that the Tamil leaders supported by the west (England at first) and India were only flogging a dead horse. They had based themselves on wrong history, misguided belief in the English who wanted to use them (kade ereema in pithy Sinhala usage) against the Sinhalas who fought colonialism, and at least by now they should have learnt their lessons. However, Sampanthan is not prepared to learn and wants to fulfill the ambitions of the ITAK. He states “What clearly emerged during this time of degradation of the Tamil people was that the Tamil community lacked a source of power – both from within and outside it. Following this history of humiliation and betrayal, a position emerged that the only solution to this problem was the establishment of a separate government for the Tamil people. It was on this basis that the Tamil United Liberation Front, of which our party was a member, took the historical decision to establish the separate government of Tamil Eelam in 1976. Based on this decision of our party, and the need to place ourselves in a position of strength, Tamil youth decided to oppose violence with violence and began to rise up as armed rebel groups.” His claim that the Tamils lacked a source of power is not correct. They had the support of the English from the very beginning but so called struggles cannot be won by resorting to lies. Samapnthan is justifying all the murders that the LTTE is responsible for, and in the process forgets that Alfred Duraiappa was killed before the Vadukkodai resolution adopted in 1976. He also forgets that the LTTE was a creation of the ITAK that engaged in bogus non violent protests which were really invitation for the misguided radicals to resort to violence. ITAK or the so called Federal Party from 1949 had been instigating the Tamils against the Sinhala people and the government, through their sathyagrahs and other so called non violent activities. The ITAK leaders and the other English educated Vellalas who could not hold on to their privileged positions in the Colombo society as the leaders of the Ceylonese and who did not have the strength to fight the government after 1949, as the English who were the patrons of Tamil racism had departed by then, wanted the ordinary Tamils to fight on behalf of them against the Sinhala people. ITAK together with India who trained the terrorists is responsible for all the crimes committed by the LTTE though ironically some of the leaders of the ITAK as well as Rajiv Gandhi were victims of the LTTE. Smpanthan who is not prepared to learn any lesson has no option but to turn to the west and India and also to the dispersed Tamils in the western countries (chapter four) wrongly referred to as the diaspora appealing to Biblical stories, in order to achieve his and his party’s ambition of a separate Tamil state. Wise Men of Friday Forum

"A group of wise men (and women), calling themselves the Friday Forum, advise us not to be obsessed with victory as the defeated will have to live in pain (Island, April 15, 2012). However, these wise men and women, of some who travelled to Geneva to support a resolution against Sri Lanka that the west was so obsessed of winning, did not care that we Sri Lankans will have to live in pain if they had achieved their victory. Neither did they think of advising the west to give up their obsession over defeating Sri Lanka at the UN in view of the pain it might cause its people. Perhaps they think Dhammapada only applies to the poor Buddhists in this country...."
